Top 5 of 2015

Here is a list of my 5 favorite books from 2015!

01

Every Day – Levithan, David 51IXfx3ChrL

This was my quickest read of 2015 because from the very first page it had me gripped. It is the story of A (not the Pretty Little Liars kind), who is a teenager unlike any other. Everyday he wakes up in someone else’s body and has to live their life, which is what he is used, until he meets Rhiannon.

Because every chapter is a new day, it is also a new setting and scenario, this is what makes this book so captivating. You want to know where A will end up next and what will happen to them. At 371 pages, this book is long enough to get stuck into it, but not too long that the chopping and changing narrative gets annoying. I would recommmend this book to absolutely anyone, it is a young adul
t book, but I found it entertaining and suitable for any age above 16. 5 STARS!

The Family Tree – Tepper, Sheri S

This book was in close contention for the top spot, as it was an amazing fantasy read, however took a while to get going. I don’t want to say too much about this one, as it is so easy to spoil it, and that would make it not half as enjoyable. Just read it, I have leant my copy to a friend at the moment who is finding it hard to get through the first 150 pages or so, but once you get past a certain point it is impossible to put it down. Really highly recommend this! FULL FIVE STARS!

03

Dream A Litt
le Dream – Fletcher,
Giovanna

24288418This was the last book I read in 2015 and I loved it! It was light hearted and easy going, offering an easy companion for the busy Christmas period. This was the first book of Giovanna’s I have read, but I am a fan of her on YouTube and have always wanted to pick up one of her novels.

If you want a book that will make you laugh and make you feel good about yourself then this is the book for you. Of course it has the familiar ‘chick-lit’ traits, but that is was makes it so brilliant. Sometimes we need a good girly book to just pour ourselves into and this is the perfect one. Sarah the leading lady, had a disaproving mother, a loving flatmate, a prominant ex and an a**ewhole of a boss. What more could you want? Of course there is romance, heart ache and friendship – so go and read it and then join me in buying more of Giovanna’s books! FIVE STARS!

The Bridges of Madison County – Waller, Robert James

83674.jpgThis tiny book had been sat on my bookshelf for months, ever since my mum found it in the loft and told me I had to read it. All I can say is I regret not reading it sooner. This book follows the love story of Robert and Francesca, the affair they have and the emotion they feel is so raw. As a reader you cannot help but fall in love with thier story.

As an aside, Robert is a photographer for the National Geographic, the way Waller describes Roberts profession has given me (as a photographer myself) a deep desire to somehow work for this magazine. Every description of everything this couple do is beautiful. I read it in two nights with instrumental music and candles in the background and for me, this was the perfect way to read their story. A DEFINITE FIVE STARS!

Beauty – Tepper, Sheri S

tumblr_inline_n6ng9x91bF1s8q4fvAfter reading the Family Tree I had to read more from Sheri S Tepper, her creativity is inspiring and I love the stories she creates. This one was partially picked for its link to fairy tales (the topic I am writing about for my dissertation). I found this book really exciting and interesting with all of the different characters you meet along the way, weaving in several different fairy tales.

I found the narrative did sometimes stay in one place for too long and it lost me at times, as there are so many different characters going on it can be hard to keep track. But ultimately an engaging story that inspired me to write! FOUR STARS!
